Kitties Everywhere!!

Over the weekend we met the wonderful Lucy from Humanimal Connection. She has been working with the organization for a few years now, has adopted five cats of her own and dedicates a lot of her time and love to help the kitties under their care. With over 57 cats, it can be overwhelming to take care of them all but with the help of volunteers they are able to keep the kitties in good spirits as they wait for their families to find them.

"I didn't know they had kittens here"

A couple of weeks ago, Nick and I walked into the San Mateo Pet Supply for kitty litter when we made our discovery. We've been there a few times before and never ever noticed that they had kittens waiting to be adopted! If we knew about this place when we were looking to adopt, it definitely would have been a great place to take a look.

This place has the CUTEST kitties I've ever seen! Humanimal Connection, a nonprofit, no-kill organization houses their kittens at San Mateo Pet (and Petco on 520 Woodside Rd in Redwood City). There's a pair of Russian Blue kittens that are just precious and I could not believe that they were still waiting in their cage when we went back two weeks later.

Instead of me rambling on about how cute their kittens are, you can check them out for yourself!

Must Love Dogs

Happy Monday! Whew! It was a pretty busy weekend. Wish it was longer and had more time to relax. Sad to report back that we were not able to make it to the shelter, but we will try our hardest to visit this upcoming weekend.

We were excited to make new friends though! One of our new friends is 12 year old Miah Rae and her dog, Twiggy, both from Boulder, Colorado. She made us feel very excited to find out that there are others out there who are trying to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals, she also has her own blog!

San Bruno Disaster

You may have heard of the gas pipe explosion that happened yesterday in San Bruno, California. About 37 homes were incinerated, at least 4 people dead and around 50 people are hurt. They are still investigating what caused the explosion.

What you may not know is that my boyfriend and his family used to live in that neighborhood. They know a lot of the people who have lost their homes and whose lives have changed drastically. It was surreal to have Nick point out his childhood home while we watched the news.

Antsy for Saturday to come

The search for shelters in the Bay Area is going great! There is an endless number of places to choose from and we're very excited to start visiting them. Planning on visiting the San Mateo Pet Supply this Saturday- wish us luck! Our camera is charging and we're ready to bring back cute photos of their adoptable kittens :) If only Saturday could come sooner!!

The road to finding the perfect pets: Who we are and why we do what we do.

We have always been animal lovers. My boyfriend and I melt whenever we see pictures of cute little animals. Our families have taught us that every living thing- great or small- deserves love and kindness.

While in college, we had dual custody of our pet Goldfishes (Pyro, Suisha, Sunshine and Bruce) and our Robo Dwarf Hamsters, brothers Chip and Dale (like the cartoon Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers). These pets were not just goldfish and hamsters to us, they were a part of our family. We took the time to take care and love them. As we all know, pets like these don't live for very long. Our goldfish lasted for about over a year and unfortunately, Chip fell victim to the 100 degree Farenheit weather we were having that summer. On the upside, Dale is still with us today. He is almost 2 years old and even though he is balding from old age, he is still as cute as the day we got him.

Welcome to "Furry, Fluffy & Fabulous"!

Enzo

This blog has been inspired by our adopted kittens, Lucy & Enzo. We adopted them from a No-Kill shelter called Pets In Need.
